A wearable memory of Fushimi Inari.
A wearable memory of Fushimi Inari.

The vivid vermilion of the thousand Torii gates is the color of Japanese spirituality. This is not just a souvenir, but a piece of that sacred atmosphere, distilled into a single, breathtaking hue. Bring the authentic light of Kyoto into your daily wardrobe.

While standard Tenugui are usually 90cm, this special edition is tailored at 100cm. This extra 10cm is calculated to create a beautiful, elegant drape when worn around the neck. It transforms a traditional fabric into a modern fashion accessory.

Hand-printed by local artisans using the traditional "Tenassen" technique. The edges are left unhemmed for ultimate hygiene and rapid drying—a wisdom passed down for centuries. Some initial fraying is natural. Trimming the loose threads with scissors is a beautiful Japanese ritual of nurturing your own fabric. Wash gently by hand or use a laundry net.

As you repeat the ritual of washing and trimming, the fabric begins to tell your story. After about five gentle washes, the initial fraying naturally stops, settling into a delicate and elegant fringe. The cotton grows noticeably softer against your skin, while the vivid red gently matures into a profound, authentic vermilion. This is the moment it transforms from a newly crafted piece into your personal wearable art.

This philosophy of the unhemmed edge and its beautiful evolution is carefully inscribed on the band wrapping each piece. When you visit our store, we invite you to take the package in your hands, read the story, and feel the authentic texture of Japanese craftsmanship for yourself.

Carefully enclosed in a traditional white paper envelope originally crafted for sacred shrine amulets (Ofuda). The vivid vermilion subtly breathes through the delicate paper, elegantly finished with our original logo seal. A perfect, thoughtful gift from Kyoto.

Located just a few steps away from Fushimi Inari Taisha. We welcome you to experience the unique texture, weight, and true vermilion color of this piece at our local clothing store.
